Dredging and Marine works consultancy

Engineering

The consultants within Blue Pelican Associates are well-educated and highly trained, with most having a MSc or BSc in civil engineering or mechanical engineering in a discipline related to dredging and or marine infrastructure. They are involved in engineering projects with contractors or consultants. This expertise in engineering can be best summed up as:

  • geotechnical engineering (how to execute a soil investigation for a dredging project, analysing soil analysis reports for production purposes)
  • civil engineering (slope stability, settlement, concrete structures, sheet-piling)
  • mechanical engineering (design of dredgers, dredging tools and trenching tools, power output for cutter)
  • hydraulic engineering (slurry transport, conceptual dimensioning pumps and cutters)
  • coastal engineering (nourishments, land reclamation, solutions for erosion problems)
  • unique mix of civil engineering and mechanical engineering on dredging (production estimates of dredging and jetting in soils and rock)
  • marine engineering (how to execute a dredging project, what type of equipment, what workability)
  • analysing data (eg. production data analysis for all hopper dredgers, that worked for the Dutch Government)
  • conceptual morphological engineering and optimisation of ports

In short, all required engineering skills for:

  • new contractors to start from scratch up to complete cutter-suction dredgers or trailer-suction hopper dredgers except for detailed design
  • existing contractors who need modification or optimisation of their equipment
  • project engineering for simple to complex projects
